Toulouse at the forefront of hydrogen aviation

Founded in Paris in 2020, Beyond Aerospace develops hydrogen-powered electric aircraft for carbon-free air travel. By establishing its headquarters and R&D team in Toulouse in 2021, the start-up confirms the city’s position as the capital of sustainable aeronautical innovation.

A start-up dedicated to carbon-free aviation

Beyond Aerospace designs six-seater aircraft capable of flying up to 1,500 miles, thanks to electric propulsion powered by fuel cells. Its mission is to accelerate the transition to environmentally friendly aviation and meet the challenges of regional air mobility.
Founded in 2020, the company already has 40 employees, 35 of whom are based in Toulouse, on a 2,600 m² site.

Why Toulouse?

In the wake of the health crisis, Beyond Aerospace is taking a keen interest in the MAELE project led by Aerospace Valley, which aims to support initiatives for greener aviation. The Toulouse metropolitan area was the natural choice for several reasons:

A unique aeronautical ecosystem in Europe, with a network of players specialising in hydrogen and aviation.
The presence of aeronautical talent and experts, who are essential to their development.
Access to strategic sites such as the Lasbordes and Francazal aerodromes.

It was this environment that convinced Beyond Aerospace to move its headquarters to Toulouse in 2021, becoming the first company to officially set up on the Francazal site.

Support from Toulouse Team – Invest

Since October 2021, Toulouse Team Invest has been supporting Eloa Guillotin (CEO), Hugo Tarlé and Valentin Chomel in their local development. In particular, the team has:

Facilitated connections with strategic players such as ONERA, Delair and H3 Dynamics.
Gave the start-up visibility at major events such as Club Excellence Aerospace 2021, Aeromart 2022 and the Paris Air Show 2023.
Promoted their project to prospects and partners in the aeronautics ecosystem.

An innovation already in flight

In 2023, Beyond Aerospace achieved a world first in France: the flight of an ultralight aircraft powered by a hydrogen fuel cell and electric batteries. This major milestone confirms the relevance of their technology and their pioneering role in carbon-free aviation.

Today, the company regularly welcomes prospective customers alongside major aircraft manufacturers in Toulouse, thereby strengthening its legitimacy in the local ecosystem.
