OP Mobility

Toulouse, driving software innovation for mobility

In 2022, OP Mobility (formerly Plastic Omnium) accelerated its shift towards software-defined vehicles by acquiring the ACTIA Power division, based in Toulouse. Since then, the city has become the hub of its software and vehicle electrification development.

A strategic turning point for OP Mobility

In June 2022, OP Mobility signed the acquisition of ACTIA Power for €52.5 million. This strategic move enabled it to leverage a cutting-edge technology platform for the design of electronic and energy management systems.

At the helm is Alexandre Corjon, Director of Innovation and Software, already recognised for having spearheaded the software shift at Renault. His ambition is to make Toulouse the nerve centre of OP Mobility’s software and electronics activities.

Toulouse, the natural choice for software innovation

The Toulouse metropolitan area has established itself as a key location for several reasons:

  • A pool of electronics and software experts thanks to the legacy of ACTIA and the presence of world-class schools and research centres.
  • Innovation infrastructure: after several years at CEA Tech in Labège, in 2024 the team inaugurated new futuristic premises called Le Pyrénéen, designed to house its design office and testing facilities.
  • An ecosystem focused on the mobility of tomorrow, where Toulouse is confirming its role as a stronghold of the energy and digital transition.

Support from Toulouse Team – Invest

Toulouse Team – Invest closely monitors the progress of the OP Mobility project and maintains a close relationship with its managers. The team ensures regular contact, whether it be to promote the company through initiatives such as Choose Toulouse or to facilitate new local partnerships.

This support aims to consolidate OP Mobility’s long-term presence in Toulouse by supporting its future needs, in particular the establishment of an industrial site for the manufacture of batteries and inverters.

An ambition for sustainable growth

Today, OP Mobility’s Toulouse site is home to the OP’n’Soft software house, created in 2023. With teams dedicated to electronic design, electric motorisation and software development, this site is set to become a strategic centre for the group.
In the medium term, the objective is clear: to reach 150 employees in Toulouse and make the city the driving force behind OP Mobility’s software and energy innovation.
