vorteX-io

Toulouse, capital of precision hydrological technologies

Drawing on unique space expertise, vorteX-io transforms satellite altimetry into an operational network of micro-stations that measure watercourses in real time. Thanks to Toulouse Team – Invest, the start-up has established itself in an ecosystem at the convergence of space, the environment and risk management.

Technology born from space

Created by two engineers from CNES and ESA, vorteX-io has developed autonomous micro-hydrological stations capable of measuring water levels with centimetre precision. They are solar-powered, transmit data continuously via GSM/4G and require no heavy work or complex maintenance.

The Maelstrom software platform, accessible in SaaS mode, processes this data in real time and issues alerts in the event of hydrological risk. By 2021, several hundred micro-stations had already been deployed and the company planned to further accelerate the coverage of the territory.

Strong growth momentum

In 2024, vorteX-io raised €2.9 million in funding to expand its network of micro-stations and enhance Maelstrom’s functionality.
The company now has 45 employees and aims to reach 80 by 2026, confirming its upward trajectory and its ambition to become a key European player in real-time hydrological measurement.
