The HealthTech sector, Toulouse’s economic driver, is supported by eight hospitals, nine clinics, 2,200 researchers and the Campus Santé du Futur (Health Campus of the Future), Oncopole.
Key areas of excellence include biotherapies, bioproduction, digital health, artificial intelligence, gerosciences and the fight against cancer (prevention, diagnosis, therapies). This ecosystem attracts talent, businesses and investors, strengthening the local economy while stimulating innovation.

Biotherapies/Bioproduction
Toulouse Métropole is a major hub for bioproduction and biotherapies in the Occitanie region, which has invested €36 million to support the sector since 2017. In 2024, Evotec inaugurated its J.POD® 2 plant (€150 million, 15,000 m²) on the Campus Santé du Futur to produce 2 tonnes of biological products per year, strengthening European health sovereignty. Toulouse Industrial Biotechnology for Health also plays a key role in bringing together research and industry to accelerate the production of biomedicines.
Digital Health
Toulouse is at the forefront of digital health, with patient monitoring applications, connected medical devices and artificial intelligence-based solutions. ANITI’s AI for Health programme, launched in 2023, brings together local players to develop innovative technologies. Certified French Tech Health Tech, Toulouse supports a dynamic ecosystem, with the Toulouse Digital Health third place funded to the tune of €1.5 million by the French government. ANITI and TSN are strengthening innovation for preventive and personalised medicine.
Pharmaceuticals
Toulouse is a leader in pharmaceutical research and development, notably with Pierre Fabre, a major player in cancer research and innovative therapeutic solutions. Evotec, a key CRO, supports pharmaceutical innovation by co-developing cutting-edge treatments. Finally, the entire Toulouse ecosystem supports industrial relocation, notably with Ipsophène, which produces 100% French paracetamol active ingredients.

Diagnostics
Toulouse also excels in the field of medical diagnostics, with major investments such as Siemens Healthineers, for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for positron emission tomography (PET) diagnostics. In 2025, IUCT-Oncopole took another step forward in medical innovation by installing a second 100% digital PET scanner and setting up an interventional radiology room within its operating theatre. These innovations are all aimed at improving the diagnosis and care of cancer patients.
