Toulouse, the historic capital of aeronautics and space, is a breeding ground for excellence for drone companies, combining a unique ecosystem of R&D, innovation and the aeronautics industry. With their wealth of experience in the aeronautics sector, several drone companies have sprung up in Toulouse.
- Since 2011, Delair has been designing and manufacturing high-performance fixed-wing drones for border surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence and special operations forces.
- Tidav Aero is developing a light aircraft (25 kg) with vertical take-off and landing capabilities, capable of covering long distances quickly.
- Diodon designs, manufactures and operates drones to study the condition of aircraft fuselages.
- Boreal designs and manufactures a fixed-wing drone with a large payload capacity and long endurance. The drones are particularly suitable for any type of mission requiring a payload that is demanding in terms of mass (7 kg), volume and stability.
- H3dynamics develops integrated hydrogen-electric propulsion pod systems for drones and aircraft. These solutions enable the optimised integration of hydrogen into new aircraft for the inspection and surveillance drone market, cargo drones and passenger aircraft.
Innovation and Technologie
Toulouse is a pioneering city in the field of drones, both in terms of design and manufacturing, but also in terms of usage with the Francazal zone.
The company Innov’ATM is also at the forefront of UTM (UAV Traffic Management), using its expertise in ATM to organise drone air traffic. Innov’ATM is the first private company in Europe to be certified as a USSP (U-Space Service Provider).

An ecosystem conducive to R&D
Research and training centres
Toulouse brings together cutting-edge organisations that support the local aeronautics industry and are exclusively dedicated to the sector:
- ENAC and ISAE have aviaries within their schools.
- ONERA: French National Office for Aerospace Research and Development
