Toulouse at the heart of the biotech revolution and AI applied to animal health

Based in Toulouse and Boston, Aviwell is a biotechnology start-up pioneering the use of hybrid artificial intelligence for microbiome discovery. The result of scientific research in Toulouse, it illustrates the union between innovation, sustainable agriculture and animal health, in the service of more responsible food production.

From research to industrial innovation

Founded in 2015 in Pailhès, in the Gers region of France, by Rémy Burcelin, Director of Research at Inserm, Aviwell was born out of a scientific discovery about the role of microbiota in fat storage in the liver. The idea for a practical application quickly emerged: to develop natural foie gras, without force-feeding, using selected bacteria.

Alongside Gérard Campistron and Gérard Bénard, Aviwell forms a trio of passionate and complementary scientists, combining veterinary expertise, biological research and entrepreneurial vision.

The Aviwell project fits naturally into the Toulouse ecosystem, at the crossroads of biotechnology, agriculture and artificial intelligence:
